Welcome to the website of The Counseling Brothers of Atlanta, Inc. (“CBOA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of thecboa.org and its content, directory, and program features (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who We Are
CBOA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing mentorship, education, advocacy, community programs, and a directory connecting the community with mental health professionals. The Site is informational and does not provide clinical or emergency services.
2. Not Medical Advice; No Professional Relationship
The Site is for informational and educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional diagnosis, therapy, or treatment. Using the Site or contacting CBOA does not create a therapist–client or other clinical relationship. The Site does not provide crisis or emergency services — see our Disclaimer & Crisis Resources page. In an emergency, call 911; for crisis support, call or text 988.
3. The Therapist Directory
– Listings are provided as a community resource and are not an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee by CBOA of any provider.
– Listed therapists are independent professionals, separately licensed and solely responsible for their own services, fees, conduct, and privacy practices. They are not employees or agents of CBOA.
– You are responsible for verifying a provider’s credentials and suitability before engaging them. Any relationship and any care you receive is solely between you and that provider.
4. Directory Listings, Claims, and Submissions
If you submit, claim, or manage a directory listing or other content:
– You represent that the information you provide is accurate, current, and that you are authorized to provide it (including any credentials, photos, or contact details).
– You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your listing.
– You grant CBOA a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and use submitted content on the Site for directory and promotional purposes.
– You must not submit content that is false, misleading, infringing, unlawful, or that you do not have rights to use.
– CBOA may review, edit, decline, or remove any listing or submission at its discretion, and may require verification of credentials. CBOA is not obligated to publish or retain any submission.
5. Events, Programs, and Registrations
Mentorship, continuing education (CE), community events, and other programs may have separate registration, eligibility, fee, ticketing, or cancellation terms presented at sign-up. CE credit, where offered, is subject to the applicable accrediting body’s standards. CBOA’s non-clinical programs do not replace therapy or clinical supervision.
6. Donations
Donations made through the Site or our linked donation provider are voluntary and, unless otherwise stated, non-refundable. Donations are processed by a third-party provider subject to its own terms and privacy practices.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
– Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
– Submit false, harmful, harassing, defamatory, or infringing content;
– Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems;
– Scrape, harvest, or collect information about other users or providers without permission;
– Interfere with or disrupt the Site’s operation or security.
8. Intellectual Property
The Site and its content (text, graphics, logos, trademarks, and design), excluding third-party and user-submitted content, are owned by or licensed to CBOA and protected by applicable laws. “The Counseling Brothers of Atlanta” and associated marks are trademarks of CBOA. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute Site content without permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site links to third-party websites and services (including therapist listings, social media, maps, and the donation page). We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CBOA and its officers, directors, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or any damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Site, the directory, or our programs, including decisions made based on information found here.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CBOA from any claims, losses, or expenses arising out of your use of the Site, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Privacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, with the “Last updated” date revised. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be subject to the courts located in Gwinnett, Georgia.
